Farever dungeons, officially referred to by developer Shiro Games as Instances, are high-intensity encounters designed for parties of one to four players. These instances scale to party size and remain entirely soloable, serving as the primary endgame source for faction armor sets, unique weapon drops, Infusion scrolls, and Medals of Glory.

Instances in Farever are divided into two main formats: full exploration dungeons containing side paths, special foes, and collectibles, and compact boss-only lairs. To clear them efficiently and gear up your character, you need to understand dungeon difficulty tiers, faction-specific loot tables, and optimal farming routes.

Complete Farever Dungeon Roster

Farever features twelve primary instances spanning the regions of Skover Island, Valley of Eternal Autumn, and Ramburg. Each dungeon is tied to an enemy faction, which dictates the type of faction armor and infusion materials that drop inside.

Full dungeons require you to navigate platforming sections, defeat tracked numbers of special foes, and locate hidden collectibles such as Secret Orbs before claiming the final chest. Boss-only instances skip trash mobs and drop you directly into multi-phase lair encounters.

Dungeon Difficulty Modes: Basic, Veteran, and Heroic

Farever instances feature three distinct difficulty levels that govern mob stats, combat mechanics, and gear progression.

Basic / Normal Mode

This is the default entry tier matching the zone level of the dungeon entrance. Normal mode introduces core room layouts, platforming elements, and foundational boss attack patterns. It is tuned for leveling characters and initial quest clears.

Veteran Mode (Formerly Hard Mode)

Veteran mode scales existing instances up to the active level cap (previously level 20, later level 25). Normal enemies hit harder, gain larger health pools, and drop blue-tier rare faction equipment. Completing an instance on Veteran mode is the prerequisite for unlocking its Heroic version.

Heroic Mode

Introduced in Major Update #2 (Call to Glory), Heroic mode represents the high-tier endgame difficulty for Farever dungeons. All encounters scale to maximum level, and bosses receive brand-new attack patterns, altered phases, and environmental hazards:

  • Crabgantua: Spawns moving bubble hazards that slow players, summons minion crabs that actively target and destroy protective shell fragments, and causes falling rock impacts across the arena.
  • Golcano (Ruins of Gorgon's Hollow): Summons a volcano that hurls flaming boulders across the arena, requiring players to utilize Golcanitos to mitigate the mechanic.
  • Sponge Blob (Abyss of New Atlaan): Employs bubbles that deplete player breath meters during the underwater encounter.
  • In-Combat Revives: Groups can perform a channeled revive on fallen teammates once during boss encounters rather than immediately wiping.
  • Spark Cube Utility: A reusable active item available from merchants that absorbs damage dealt over a window and releases it as a burst, refilled at obelisk fountains before bosses.

Faction Loot, Infusions, and the Infusion Crucible

Dungeon loot in Farever follows strict faction associations. Understanding how drops interact with the Infusion Crucible prevents wasted runs.

Faction Armor Sets

Armor drops match the mob faction inhabiting the dungeon:

  • Nepsids (Sea): Lost City of Mayda, Crabgantua's Gorge, Abyss of New Atlaan.
  • Kobolds: Mine Estrone, Ratsar's Lair, Ruins of Gorgon's Hollow, Cheese Station.
  • Apix (Bees): Trunk of the Hivetree, Lady Bee's Palace, Honeyzabeth's Hivetrunk.
  • Crimson: Crimson Barracks, Crimson Sacristy.
  • Nightlings: Acquired primarily via Rifts and town trade-in vendors.

Human enemies currently lack dedicated dungeon instances, meaning high-tier faction armor cannot be farmed for them directly in dungeons.

Weapons vs. Armor Drops

As confirmed by community testing, faction armor pieces generally drop across any dungeon belonging to that faction. Weapons, however, are often tied to specific instances:

  • Ruins of Gorgon's Hollow: Drops Gorgon's Rotgut Toothpick.
  • Cheese Station: Drops Amon-Ra, the Creator.
  • Honeyzabeth's Hivetrunk: Drops Wing Savers.
  • World Weapons: Weapons that do not drop directly from dungeon tables (such as Dominion, Radiance, Glory, and Credence) can be obtained at level 25 purple or gold rarities by spending Medals of Glory on Hero Weapon Caches at Shirro Games vendors in town.

The Infusion System

Heroic dungeons reward purple Epic Gear and unlockable Infusion recipe scrolls. Infusing epic gear at the Infusion Crucible activates powerful set bonuses across 2-piece, 4-piece, and 6-piece thresholds (for example, the tank-oriented Honorable Defender set or healer-oriented Life-giving Spring set).

Each epic armor piece features a native faction type and an infusion bonus that enhances secondary attributes:

  • To activate an armor piece's secondary attribute bonus, the slotted infusion must match the armor's native faction.
  • Prismatic Gear: Rare variant drops with a "Prismatic" tag allow you to slot an infusion from any faction while still activating that item's native attribute bonus.

Best Dungeons to Farm for Fast Gear and Medals

If your primary goal is collecting Epic armor sets or stacking Medals of Glory rather than chasing a specific boss weapon, certain instances offer significantly faster clear times.

Fastest Armor Farming Instances

  • Best Sea / Nepsid Run: Lost City of Mayda. Community tests demonstrate consistent clear times around 5 minutes on Veteran and Heroic, making it vastly faster than the longer crawl in Abyss of New Atlaan.
  • Best Kobold Run: Ratsar's Lair. King Ratsar is a direct boss lair that can be cleared in roughly 6 minutes once your group learns his phase transitions (Spark Absorption at 80%, 60%, and 40%, followed by the Train Wave at 20%). In contrast, Mine Estrone and Ruins of Gorgon's Hollow take 10 to 13 minutes due to trash packs, special foes, and layout size.
  • Best Bee / Apix Run: Honeyzabeth's Hivetrunk or Lady Bee's Palace. Lady Bee runs take approximately 9 minutes, while skilled groups and burst-heavy setups (such as shield-prepped Mages) can defeat Queen Honeyzabeth rapidly. Trunk of the Hivetree is consistently slower (12–13 minutes) due to cannon mechanics.

Farming Medals of Glory Efficiently

Medals of Glory (MoGs) are earned from Heroic boss chests and can be optimized using the following rules:

  • First-Time Clear Bonus: Defeating a Heroic dungeon for the first time awards a large one-time bonus (reported around 100 medals).
  • Group Multipliers: Playing in larger parties increases the quantity of Medals of Glory awarded per player. Since group loot updates guarantee individual equipment drops, grouping does not dilute personal gear.
  • Rotating Heroic Bonus: One active dungeon displays a "Heroic Bonus Reward" tag granting extra medals upon completion. This bonus rotates after each clear and matches the group leader's active rotation. Parties can target specific dungeons by having members with desirable bonuses take party leadership.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there automatic matchmaking for Farever dungeons?

No. Farever does not currently feature an automated matchmaking queue or dungeon finder tool. Players group organically using local chat, proximity interactions, in-game friends lists, or community Discord channels.

Can all Farever dungeons be completed solo?

Yes. Shiro Games designed all dungeons, including Heroic difficulty instances, to be scalable and fully completable by solo players. Solo runs eliminate mechanic multipliers that scale with party size, though groups provide higher Medal of Glory payouts and access to channeled revives.

How do you unlock Heroic difficulty?

To unlock Heroic difficulty for an instance, you must complete that specific dungeon at least once on Veteran mode (Hard mode). Once cleared, the Heroic toggle becomes permanently available at the dungeon entrance.

How do Secret Orbs work in full dungeons?

Dungeons like Mine Estrone feature side exploration objectives such as collecting 5 Secret Orbs. These orbs are placed along vertical structures, side ledges, and hidden ramps off the main combat path. They track separately from special foes and boss kills, and missing them leaves completion achievements and bonus rewards incomplete.
