Gearing in Farever revolves around a combination of one-time open-world discoveries, faction-based repeatable dungeon runs, multi-profession enchanting, and endgame Heroic infusions. Because different activities govern different gear slots and rarities, gearing an optimal character requires knowing exactly which factions drop your required armor weights, which specific bosses hold your weapon drops, and how secondary mechanics like the Arsenal system scale your total attributes.

How Gear Drops Work: Repeatable vs. Unrepeatable Sources

Loot sources in Farever are divided into two operational categories: unrepeatable first-time activities and repeatable farming loops.

Unrepeatable activities reward high-tier gear scaled to the level of the zone you discover them in. These include:

  • Open-world chests and purple puzzle chests
  • Named world bosses killed for the first time
  • Jumping puzzles, environmental obstacle challenges, and timed races

Because these rewards do not respawn, opening high-level chests in level 18 to 20 zones is one of the most reliable early routes for securing high-tier armor and weapons prior to dungeon farming.

Repeatable activities provide continuous gear and upgrading components:

  • Standard open-world mobs: Drop basic green items, linen cloth, light leather, and base crafting reagents.
  • Sparkling elite mobs and patrols: Drop green equipment, character runes, and spark dust used for upgrading weapons.
  • Dungeons: The primary source for blue armor, purple weapons, legendary drops, and endgame materials.

Target-Farming Faction Dungeons

Farever organizes dungeon drops around distinct enemy factions. Armor pieces tied to a specific faction can generally drop from any dungeon boss affiliated with that faction. Specific weapons, however, are strictly locked to specific encounter loot tables.

During early access, players observed that while Hard Mode dungeons scale boss armor drops to maximum level, certain dungeon weapons dropped at lower baseline tiers matching the dungeon's original normal-mode level unless obtained from high-tier zones like Cheese Station, Honey Sabat, or max-level world chests.

The Arsenal System and Stat Scaling

Upon reaching level 7, characters unlock the Arsenal slot. This mechanic allows you to equip a secondary weapon alongside your primary combat loadout, granting two distinct benefits:

  • Active or Passive Skill Selection: By holding Control and left-clicking the Arsenal weapon, you can choose an active ability or passive perk from that weapon's toolkit to assign to your combat hotbar.
  • Attribute Transfer: Exactly 40% of the raw attributes on your Arsenal weapon transfer directly to your character's total stat pool.

Because of this stat transfer, leveling up and upgrading your Arsenal weapon with spark crystals increases your primary character attributes, even if you rarely activate its designated skill. Note that main-hand weapon enchantments only apply to your active main-hand weapon; Arsenal weapons do not trigger weapon enchant procs.

Enchanting, Gemming, and Profession Upgrades

Endgame gear optimization requires utilizing the game's crafting professions to place permanent enhancements onto specific equipment slots. Not every slot accepts every enhancement type.

Slot-by-Slot Enhancement Breakdown

  • Main-Hand Weapon: Enhanced via Enchanter formulas. Popular endgame enchantments include Devout (+30 Fervor), Flaming Weapon (bonus magical fire damage), or Life-Stealing formulas. Arsenal weapons and off-hand shields cannot receive these formula enchants.
  • Hands & Feet: Enchanter craftable scrolls provide flat stat increases, such as +4 Faith or +4 Dexterity on gloves, and +15 Fervor or +15 Armor Penetration on boots.
  • Chest Piece: Blacksmithing produces reinforcement plates (such as Bronze Plates or Glittering Alloy Plates) that add flat primary attributes like Strength and Faith.
  • Cloak: Outfitting crafts embroideries, offering combined stats like +2 Strength and +2 Faith, or bonus Armor and Vitality.
  • Necklace & Rings: Jeweler crafting creates cut gem consumables (such as Attuned Cut Rubies or the Cursed Eye series) that slot into accessories to boost critical rating, armor penetration, or Fervor.
  • Headgear: Accepts Sigils purchased from NPC vendors like Mira the Demon Huntress using raid and boss currencies. Sigils unlock specialized passive talents such as Solar Devotion or Venomous Finisher.

Corrupted Gifts

Acquired from Rift caches and demon vendors, Corrupted Gifts can be applied to weapons and select armor pieces. These balance a major positive stat against an equal negative penalty, such as +40 Fervor / -40 Critical Chance, or +40 Armor Penetration / -40 Magic Penetration, allowing builds to hyper-specialize into specific damage formulas.

Heroic Mode, Epic Gear, and Infusions

Introduced in the Call to Glory update, Heroic Mode represents the pinnacle of Farever's dungeon progression. It rescales standard encounters to maximum level while introducing overhauled combat mechanics, environmental hazards (such as falling arena debris), and additional boss phases.

Medals of Glory (MoGs)

Completing Heroic Mode encounters awards Medals of Glory. Bonus medals are granted for:

  • First-time dungeon completions
  • Tackling a highlighted bonus location
  • Running content inside organized player groups

Medals of Glory serve as the primary currency for purchasing endgame collectibles, specialized caches, and applying gear infusions.

Epic Gear and the Infusion Crucible

Heroic difficulty drops Epic Gear, a tier above Veteran/Hard mode blue equipment. Epic items carry superior base attributes and can be taken to the Infusion Crucible in town to apply set bonuses.

  • Set Bonuses: Applying identical infusions across multiple pieces of Epic Gear unlocks progressive tier bonuses. For example, the "Life-giving Spring" infusion grants self-healing tides at 2 pieces, bonus Fervor at 4 pieces, and a 25% max health bursting shield at 6 pieces.
  • Faction Alignment: If the infusion applied matches the faction theme of the underlying gear piece (such as applying a Sea infusion to a Lost City of Mayda drop), an additional secondary attribute bonus activates on that item. Prismatic infusions can match any faction piece, but drop with significantly lower frequency.

Best Practices for Gear Management

  • Never discard unique weapons: Store extra weapon drops in your shared account bank. Due to low drop rates and class-overlap weapon scaling (such as weapons scaling off Dexterity and Faith simultaneously), keeping rare weapons allows seamless build swapping or alt leveling.
  • Utilize the Sparkler Cycler: Always recycle unwanted duplicate blue and purple gear rather than dropping it. Recycling level 13+ equipment is the only consistent source for Bright Fragments, Residues, and Bright Void Particles needed for top-tier Enchanter recipes.
  • Liquidate jewelry at vendors: Crafted or dropped rings and necklaces cannot be recycled in the Sparkler Cycler. Sell unwanted accessories directly to NPC merchants for gold rather than destroying them.
  • Check all dungeon special foes: When running hard mode or heroic dungeons, ensure your group defeats every required elite or special foe before initiating the final boss encounter, as the final completion chest remains locked if any required objective is skipped.
